REVIEW Florence L. 11/9/2011 **** WOODLAND HLS, CA Ordered late night, Right before they closed. They delivered in a flash and the pizza was BOMB! My friend called it in so the toppings were Tomato, basil and pepperoni and the pizza was super thin crust. I loved how crunchy it was. Not a big thin crust fan, but it was good. Ill have to go check it out another time and order it my way =)...! It was so yummy, but I always think Pizza is yummy!
REVIEW Jerry K. 10/20/2011 **** Woodland Hills, CAI was dismayed when they closed the original Barone's in Sherman Oaks - my favrorite piza place. Guess what - the new Barone's is just 5 blocks from my house. I love their pepperoni with bell pepper. I always order my pizza to go. Small take out place. A bit pricey, but well worth it to me. Street parking
REVIEW Leilani R. 8/22/2010 ***** Santa Monica, CA I love this place!! I just discovered it and crave their pizza. We created our own combination of chicken, pepperoni, garlic, and onions (sometimes we add bell pepper) and it's to die for. More expensive than your Pizza Hut, Dominos, or other chain pizza spot but the difference is you get FLAVOR!! Highly recommend!
REVIEW Andy L. 4/23/2011***** Thousand Oaks, CA OK: what die-hard Barone's fans will really want to know is: is this the same pizza that we all grew up loving as the old place in Sherman Oaks? Answer (verified today over a medium 1/2 sausage 1/2 pepperoni with extra sauce and a side salad): Sweet Jesus, Yes. Yes, indeed. Thats all that matters. The decor, the old waitresses, the stained menus, the geriatric crowd, that was all great, and we're sad to see it go. But what really counts, their incredible pizza, can be had now much closer to the 101, and closer to us who live out in parts west. For those of you who don't know, Barone's is simply the best pizza in this state, and has been for the last 235 years. All you one-star Yelpers: go microwave a Stouffer's....
PS: note I said "best pizza". To my knowledge, no one has ever ordered anything else on the menu, besides their awesome salad with incredible house dressing, so I make no claims there....
REVIEW Kasie L. 2/19/2011 **** Los Angeles, CALast week, our office lost a death penalty lawyer who has been battling Lou Gehrig's disease for the past year. He was a strong advocate, a fighter, and a mentor to many. He also loved his pizza.
Raised in the Bronx, my friend was obsessed with pizza, specifically NY-style thin crust. When his teenage son gave the eulogy, he announced that his father's favorite pizzeria this side of the Missisippi was, in fact, Barone's. His actual words were, "I don't know why Pops always made us eat there. The pizza made me want to puke." A good attorney always raises honest children. After the service, a few of us decided to track down this place to judge for ourselves.
We ordered a large square pizza, with half pepperoni and half white sauce (alfredo + chicken). I've been low-carbin it and feeling good all week. After one bite of the white sauce pizza, however, I proceeded to devour four pieces, eyeing each next piece hungrily as I was still finishing the one I was holding. Somehow Barone's pizza transformed a somber occasion into a stuff-your-face fest.
I'm not much of a pizza person, but to satisfy the occasional craving, I just might drive all the way out to Woodland HIlls from now on. Better than CPK, better than Pitfire in DTLA, better than any other pizza I've had out here. It's the cheese.
And to my friend, thanks for teaching so many of us the ropes in felony practice, thanks for keeping me updated on the newest technological devices, and now, thank you for pointing me out to the best pizza in LA. You will be missed for all of it. Seriously, thanks for being an inspiration.
