Barone’s The Pizzeria Express has a pizza pedigree it is very proud of. Their famous pizzas date back to 1945, right after World War II when six Italian families, all related, combined their recipes and opened the first Barone’s Restaurant in Sherman Oaks, CA.
What started out, as an act of efficiency, to fit more pizzas in the oven became the restaurant’s trademark. The family opted for a rectangular shaped pizza served on a silver-baking sheet. The results were different in appearance, aroma and most certainly - taste.
Barone’s Thin Crust Neapolitan Style Pizza begins with an extraordinary crust that is hand-made fresh daily with the finest ingredients. Toppings are made with the most nutritious vegetables, real garlic, authentic Italian extra virgin olive oil plus the family’s secret blend of sauces and spices; then topped with their famous cheese and baked to perfection.
Mike Monteleone acquired the rights from his family to use all of the original Barone’s Famous Secret Recipes in their New Express Restaurant. Now Mike and his son Stephan are thrilled to continue their lineage with Barone’s The Pizzeria Express. Stephan, who has been a restaurateur for nearly 15 years, will now be fulfilling his life-long dream of creating the first delivery establishment for his family.
The new “fast casual restaurant” will utilize the latest and most advanced energy efficient oven technology to insure each pizza is cooked to perfection. While employing the best the 21st century has to offer, they will continue to stay true to their traditions. Only the finest ingredients, aged cheeses succulent vegetables with homemade dough and family tested sauces will be served. They pledge to run an establishment focusing on doing right in regard to the environment.
